A note on ice cream: Yes, indeed the ice cream here has satisfied some of my Jeni's ice cream cravings. We also tried Haupia ice cream which is a traditional coconut pudding turned into ice cream-- not too coconutty OR sweet, yum. It is fabulous with mango, papaya, and pineapple. As for the purple sweet potato ice cream, apparently, the puple sweet potatoes are only grown here in Moloka'i. I think they must be a distance cousin of taro. Speaking of taro, I hope to purchase some poi before we go home. I will report on it if I do.

I am hoping this ice cream helped alleviate some of the Jeni's withdrawal you've been experiencing. Does it taste as yummy as it looks?

Potato ice cream sounds wonderful to me. We're going to get a bunch of potatoes from our CSA, so perhaps some expirementation is in order.
